Owner’s Manual & Maintenance Guide

Please refer back to our website for the most current maintenance information and updates.
Introduction
Thank you for choosing Successor Systems. Proper maintenance is essential to ensure reliable performance, longevity, and safe operation of your firearm. Routine cleaning also allows you to inspect components for wear or damage before issues arise.
Most firearm components are designed to last several thousand rounds—often 10,000 rounds or more—before noticeable wear occurs. If you believe a component may be damaged or worn, please contact our customer support team. A certified Successor Systems armorer can help assess the issue and determine the appropriate next steps.
This manual outlines recommended maintenance procedures. Our website will always reflect the most up-to-date guidance and instructional resources, and you can check out the video of how to maintain your Successor Systems firearm here.
Maintenance Frequency
All Successor Systems firearms are range-tested prior to shipment using approximately 10–100 rounds of commercially available ammunition. While each firearm receives a light wipe-down before shipping, some residue from test firing is normal. We recommend cleaning your firearm upon receipt and before your first use.
Our firearms are based on the proven Gen 3 platform and should be field stripped and cleaned at the following intervals:
-
After each range session or outdoor use
-
At least once per month
-
After firing live ammunition
These intervals are general guidelines. Avoid leaving your firearm unmaintained for extended periods, as this may negatively impact reliability and performance.
Proper Procedure
Field Stripping
Effective cleaning requires disassembly into the major components, commonly referred to as “field stripping.” Simply wiping down the exterior or running a cleaning rod through the barrel is insufficient and may allow fouling to accumulate.
Firearm Safety
Before performing any maintenance, ensure the firearm is completely unloaded.
-
Remove the magazine by pressing the magazine release near the trigger guard.
-
Pull the slide fully rearward and lock it open using the slide stop lever on the left side of the firearm.
-
Visually and physically inspect the chamber to confirm it is empty.
For added safety, keep all ammunition out of your work area—and preferably out of the room—while performing maintenance. This greatly reduces the risk of accidental loading or discharge, which could result in serious injury or death.
Slide Removal
To remove the slide, grasp the slide firmly while holding the frame. Pull the slide slightly rearward. With your other hand, pull down on both sides of the slide lock (located above the trigger) simultaneously. Allow the slide to move forward and off the frame.
Barrel Removal
The barrel is retained by the recoil spring assembly. Compress the recoil spring slightly and lift it out of the slide. You may need to push the spring forward slightly to relieve tension. Once removed, lift the barrel upward and out of the slide by the barrel hood.
Cleaning
Frame
Any quality CLP (Clean, Lubricate, Protect) product may be used to clean your Successor Systems firearm. Apply a small amount of CLP to the interior of the frame, focusing on the front and rear rails, trigger housing area, and dust cover. Allow it to sit briefly to loosen fouling.
Use a soft toothbrush or synthetic cleaning brush to gently scrub internal components. Aggressive scrubbing is not necessary. Wipe clean using patches or a soft cloth.
The exterior of the frame may also be wiped down with CLP. For white Successor Systems frames, a Magic Eraser may be used carefully to reduce staining or residue.
Slide
When cleaning the slide, avoid introducing CLP or liquid cleaners into the trigger pin channel or striker-related areas.
Apply CLP only to the forward interior portion of the slide where the barrel and frame rails interface. For the rear portion of the slide, lightly apply CLP to a cloth or patch and wipe the area rather than spraying directly.
Clean the rail channels thoroughly using patches or cotton swabs as needed. Excess oil or debris in the trigger mechanism area can attract fouling and degrade performance. If lubricant enters this area, performance may be affected. Refer to our website for instructional videos on deep cleaning procedures if this occurs.
Barrel
Clean the exterior of the barrel using CLP and a soft brush, then wipe clean with patches or a cloth.
To clean the bore:
-
Apply CLP inside the barrel and allow it to sit for several minutes.
-
Using a 9mm bore brush, push the brush through the barrel from the chamber end toward the muzzle.
-
Repeat several times.
-
Use a 9mm jag with clean patches to remove loosened debris.
Always use cleaning tools matched to the firearm’s caliber to prevent damage.
As a final step, lightly oil a clean patch and run it through the bore once or twice.
Recoil Spring
Wipe the recoil spring assembly clean with a cloth. Under normal conditions, lubrication is not required.

Lubrication
After cleaning, lightly lubricate your firearm before reassembly. Successor Systems firearms are based on proven Gen 3 design principles and require minimal lubrication.
Use a small amount of quality handgun oil. Apply sparingly—excess oil can attract debris. Ensure the breech face and trigger pin area are wiped dry before reassembly.
Reassembly
-
Insert the barrel into the slide with the barrel hood facing upward.
-
Install the recoil spring by placing the smaller end into the front spring channel, then seating the larger end into the half-moon notch on the barrel.
-
Slide the assembled slide onto the frame from the front.
-
Rack the slide several times to ensure proper function.
